Director of the 'Emerging Technologies and Infrastructures' Directorate at the European Commission
![]() Mário Campolargo Mário Campolargo is Director of the 'Emerging Technologies and Infrastructures' Directorate at the European Commission, in charge of future and emerging technologies and ICT-based infrastructures for science, as well as ICT security, experimental facilities and experimentally-driven research for the future Internet. Before joining the Commission in 1990, he worked for 12 years in the R&D Centre of Portugal Telecom as a researcher and manager. He has a Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Coimbra, an MSc in Computing Science from Imperial College London, a postgraduate degree in Management from Solvay Business School in Brussels, and a European Studies Diploma by the Université Catholique de Louvain-la-Neuve in Belgium.
