Dr Albrecht Wagner is the former Chairman of the Directorate of DESY in Hamburg. He was previously Professor of Experimental Physics and Research Director at Hamburg University and prior, to that, Heidelburg University. He studied at the Technical University in Munich and the Universities of Göttingen and Heidelberg and became a research associate at Heidelberg. He subsequently carried out work at DESY in the 1970s and 80s and at CERN in 1989-1990.
