Carlos Losada holds a PhD degree in Management Sciences from ESADE-Universitat Ramon Llull; an Undergraduate degree in Law from the Universidad de Barcelona (1979), and an Undergraduate and MBA degree in Business Management from ESADE (1980). He was also awarded a Harvard University Diploma from the John F. Kennedy School of Government in 1994.

Before completing his studies at ESADE he began his professional career by contributing to the founding of Kernel, SA, where he was General Manager until 1981. He later joined the Catalan regional government where he held several different posts, the most recent of which was Secretary General of Public Administration and Civil Service.

Throughout his managerial career he has held a number of positions of responsibility in international organizations. He was expert to the United Nations Management Development Programme (PNUD-MDP) and the Inter-American Development Bank (BID), where he specialized in management and modernization of the public sector. He has also been a member of various governing councils and commissions.

He has always worked closely with NGOs: he is a former Director of Fundació Lluís de Peguera; since 1984 he has been a member and Vice-President of the Board of Trustees of Intermón-Oxfam Foundation, and a member of the Board of Oxfam International and Fundació Cristianisme i Justícia.

Member of the Executive Committee, the Governing Body and the Academic Board of Universitat Ramon Llull. President of the Postgraduate Commission of UNIJES (Jesuit Universities). President of Fundación para el Progreso Empresarial y Social. Member of the Board of Trustees of the EFMD-European Foundation for Management Development. Member of the Board of Círculo de Economía.  Member of the Advisory Board of Casa Asia.  Member of the public sector company Banc de Sang i Teixits. Member of the Board of Directors and President of the Strategy, Investment and Competition Commission of Gas Natural. Former President of the Board of Clickair (Vueling).

Although most of his teaching career has been spent at ESADE, he has been Visiting Professor at several other universities and has taken part in numerous national and international congresses and seminars. For several years he worked as a consultant in business strategy for various business sectors.

He is the author of a number of books and research projects.

He has been Associate Professor in ESADE's Department of Business Policy since 1988, specializing in managerial function, corporate strategy and public management.

Since September 2000, he has been Director General of ESADE.
